Day 3 | Broome - Fitzroy Crossing

Depart Broome this morning and travel to Derby. Explore the town and visit the famous Boab Prison Tree before beginning your journey along the Gibb River Road.

Stop at a local art gallery, then continue to Dimalurru (Tunnel Creek), where water has carved a dramatic 750m-long tunnel through the limestone Napier Ranges. Rising up to 20m in places, this tunnel was formed 350 million years ago as part of an ancient ocean reef system.

Later, continue to Fitzroy Crossing.

Stay: 1 night at Fitzroy River Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Water and reef shoes are recommended for the Tunnel Creek walk.

Day 4 | Fitzroy Crossing - Bungle Bungles

Depart Fitzroy Crossing and follow the Great Northern Highway to Mt Pierre Station, then head along a track to the Mimbi Caves. Explore this 350-million-year-old Devonian Reef system with your local guide, marvel at the limestone formations, hear Dreamtime stories, and enjoy traditional damper and tea.

After lunch in Halls Creek, continue to the World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park (the Bungle Bungles).

Stay: 2 nights at Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

The Mimbi Caves walk is uneven and dark in places; guests should be confident on their feet and mindful if they have a fear of confined spaces.

Day 5 | Exploring the Bungle Bungles

Explore the remarkable landscapes of Purnululu National Park, including the distinctive orange and black beehive-shaped domes. Begin with an 18-minute scenic helicopter flight for a breathtaking aerial view of this extraordinary landscape.

Afterwards, walk along Piccaninny Creek to the natural amphitheatre of Cathedral Gorge and follow the Dome Trail for a closer look at the park’s unique formations. In the afternoon, visit Echidna Chasm in the northern section of the Bungle Bungles before returning to the lodge.

The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.

Board a three-hour cruise on the Ord River from Lake Kununurra, taking in the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife as your skipper provides commentary on the journey upstream to Lake Argyle.

Day 8 | Exploring El Questro

Head deeper into the Kimberley wilderness to Chamberlain Gorge, a three-kilometre freshwater gorge framed by towering escarpments. Take a 90-minute cruise and feed some cheeky Archerfish before returning to Emma Gorge Resort via the Station township.

After lunch, enjoy a guided walk to Emma Gorge waterfall (2.5 hours return – a good level of fitness required) and swim in the large rock pool at the base of the falls.
Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure before regrouping for dinner.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 9 | Zebedee Springs - Drysdale

Start the day with a refreshing swim in the warm, crystal-clear waters of Zebedee Thermal Springs. After a relaxing morning, continue west along the Gibb River Road.

Cross the mighty Pentecost River and pass Ellenbrae Station to the ‘Y’ junction, then follow the Kalumburu Road to Drysdale River Station, home to 9,000 head of cattle across more than 1 million acres. Spend the night in comfortable station cabins with private ensuite bathrooms.

Stay: 1 night at Drysdale River Station

Day 10 | King Edward River – Mitchell Plateau

Travel north along the Kalumburu Road and Mitchell Plateau track. After fording the King Edward River, visit a series of spectacular Wanjina rock art galleries.

Enjoy a picnic lunch before driving through an ancient Livistona Palm forest, arriving mid-afternoon at Outback Spirit’s Ngauwudu Safari Camp.

This afternoon, relax by the palm-fringed waterhole or in your suite, enjoy a drink around the campfire at sunset, and finish the day with dinner at the restaurant.

After a picnic lunch and time to admire the falls, take a scenic helicopter flight back to the ranger station—a breathtaking way to view the falls and surrounding landscape. Return to camp for a well-earned rest or a swim in the palm-fringed creek.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
